4-H Livestock

Through positive youth-adult partnerships, the 4-H program connects youth and adults to their communities, preparing them for work and life. The 4-H program is designed to engage youth and adults in intentional, experiential, and inquiry-based learning experiences.

4-H exhibiting at the fair builds important life skills, most importantly social skills and character development. The fair is a learning ground, where members build lasting friendships, self-confidence, responsibility and sportsmanship, as well as how to deal with loss.

Animal Fence Talks - 4-H members will share their knowledge and expertise about their 4-H animal project at various barn locations throughout the fair. These judged presentations are interactive, as youth engage the public and present their knowledge centered on their animal project.

The 4-H Exhibit Hall in the School house - 4-H members display 4-H projects that they have worked on over the past year. These displays are similar to what is showcased in the open show: Gardening, sewing, photography, art, posters, baking, engineering, forestry... Please view our 4-H Exhibit Hall document for all the details.

Action Exhibits (make and takes) and Demonstrations – are opportunities in which youth present what they know to the public, in an interactive way. These presentations will happen throughout the weekend under the poultry/rabbit tent.

All areas of exhibition by 4-H members age 8-18 are judged. Youth then earn ribbons and premiums for their work. Members age 5 – 7 (known as Clover buds) present only and do not participate in judging.
